It all started a while ago, when I accidentally broke my husband’s water bottle that he used literally all the time, I mean the bottle that he used to take to gym, to work, drink from at home, literally his buddy water bottle! And to be frank I have never seen my husband drinking water from a cup ever in my life!

This is when I decided its time for my usual “extremely deep” product research to buy him a new one, and it went on for days until I fully understood everything about the bottles out there in the market and found the best option for us.

So I decided to write this article that helps you find what you’re looking for without wasting time reading tens of articles that miss a point here or there, or avoid mentioning a whole category of products.

We will start by explaining the manufacturing materials and different types of water bottles based on that, and then we will be discussing the best water bottles for each use.

Different Types Of Water Bottles Based On Manufacturing Materials.

Each one of us has definitely seen many types and styles of reusable bottles in the market and wondered which one would be the best to choose, of course each one of these types comes with different advantages and disadvantages and based on that you will have the chance to make the right decision for yourself.

Plastic Types Of Water Bottles.

First of all let’s all agree on the fact that one single use plastic water bottles are not safe to be refilled for many reasons, one of them is that they’re not made of a long term type of plastic and not to mention the high rate of bacterial growth. So the plastic bottles we’re going to talk about would be the reusable type of plastic, which is called Polycarbonate, and since you know that now, you need to know that scientist have discovered that it leaches many harmful substances and that’s why they came up with healthier options of this plastic which are called: BPA Free, and BPS Free Polycarbonate, which promise to lower the plastic leaches of chemical materials, But still not fully succeeded with that.

Some of its Pros:

* Very lightweight material.

*The least expensive option.

*Comes in many colors and designs.

Some of its Cons:

*Not the healthiest option even if BPA, or BPS Free.

*Not suitable for dishwasher.

*Not always recyclable.

Glass Types Of Water Bottles.

These types of water bottle had never contained BPA substances, they are the most safe and the water stored in it tastes very pure, although from our own experience even glass bottles tend to change water taste sometimes but only after a few years of use. One downside though is that it is easily shattered even with the thickest glass materials in the market.

so we suggest that you choose a design that comes with silicon sleeves which gives the bottle some protection and a unique style. One more thing is that you should be careful if you are planning to take this bottle with you to a pool or a private beach since some of these places do not allow glass.

Some of its Pros:

*Water tastes very pure.

*Dishwasher safe.

*Easily recyclable.

*Stable at different temperatures.

Some of its Cons:

*Heavyweight.

*Easily shattered.

*Higher price.

*Not safe for children use.

Stainless Steel Types Of Water Bottles.

These bottles are made of food-grade stainless steel, which is a nonreactive substance, so they are considered safe for our health. Be aware some of them contain a plastic liner on the inside as a cheaper version of this bottle and it is better to be avoided. Also, people with metal allergy should definitely avoid these bottles.

This type of bottles is very long-lived and tolerates high temperatures.

Some of its Pros:

*Comes in very trendy designs

.*Long-lived option.

*Dishwasher safe.

*Doesn’t contain plastic or epoxy.

Some of its Cons:

*Possible metallic taste.

*Heats up in high temperatures.

Aluminum Types Of Water Bottles.

This is a very popular option of water bottles, that comes in very nice and stylish shapes and is very lightweight, but be careful that aluminum can leach into water that’s why factories protect it with resin or plastic, so BPA Free options will be considered the safest for health.

Some of its Pros:

*Lighter than Stainless steel.

*Less expensive than Stainless steel.

Some of its Cons:

*Less likely to be recycled.

*Has resin, or polymer lining.

*Not suitable for dishwasher.

Copper Types Of Water Bottles.

Many sources claim that copper bottles are very good for your health, and that copper infused water kills bacteria, and aid in digestion, help reduce inflammation, and many other benefits, but new studies show that there’s not enough evidence to support this theory and that copper bottles are nor good or bad to your health. But keep in mind that if the water is stored in the bottle for a long time (overnight for instance), it is better not to drink a big portion of it, since it could carry very high amounts of copper. And be aware that you must avoid adding lemon into your bottle since it could cause a toxic reaction. Our advice would be to look for copper bottles that are lined with stainless steel which prohibits leaking.

Some of its Pros:

*Very unique designs.

*Some ancient health benefits.

*Kills bacteria, and yeast.

Some of its Cons:

*Can’t store acids.

*Forms stains on the bottle.

*Not suitable for dishwasher.

So What Is the best type of water bottle to choose for yourself.

This depends on your situation and that’s what we are going to discuss here.

People who workout at the gym for example should try to avoid glass bottles as they tend to be very easily shattered and we would definitely recommend stainless steel as the best option for them, also as a tip you can look for bottle designs that can be attached to your backpack on the outside to save space.

If you are planning on using this bottle at home or on leaving it in your car, we advice you to purchase a glass bottle as it doesn’t tend to get warm as quickly as other materials and the water stored in it tastes more pure.

For children and elderly people we suggest avoiding glass and choosing plastic BPA Free options since its very light for kids to carry, and it is considered safe as long as you keep changing the bottle every now and then.

And for everyone who is interested in helping the environment it was proven that stainless steel bottles are the most eco-friendly option since it is the easiest to be recycled!

At the end we want you to remember that every time you refill your reusable water bottle you are doing your part to reduce the number of plastic bottles that reach the ocean, and help save our planet.
